Small review from the concert in Prague in the O2 Arena (or maybe now more known as ”Oxygene tour pt 2 Arena” )
O2 Arena is a very big hall with a capacity for about 18.000 people, and for a concert like Oxygene there were a capacity for about 12.000 people. The concert were not sold out, but there were about 10.000 people attending the concert the 13th of November.
For this type of concept I think the O2 Arena was too big. Oxygene Tour fits better into smaller arena with about 2-3000 people as maximum. There were two big screens, one on each site of the stage, so everybody in the arena had a chance to see Jean Michel Jarre on stage.
The concert started with the sounds of Waiting for Cousteau, and about a half hour of delay the concert started. New intro track (btw, very cool) instead of the Egg chair. Jean Michel Jarre came from the far end of the hall and walked up to the stage, where Francis, Claude and Dominique waited for him. So no Egg chair this time, although I did see the Egg chair after the concert at the corner of the stage. Maybe the idea with JMJ making another entry was changed in last minute.
Most of the concert was as almost identical with the 1st part of the tour, with small mistakes and improvisations, but it was LIVE and good.
After Oxygene 13 (Extra track), I was a bit surprised to see JMJ and the team returning back on stage to once again this night, perform Oxygene 4. People went crazy, and it became extremely crowded up front of the stage, as people from all over the arena ran up front.
Oxygene in Prague 2008, great concert…
